In response to the Rose Gauntlet...

I will try to answer bravely to my challenge. (excluding the Bible from most of these catagories)

1.  One book that changed your life: Night, Ellie Wiesel

2.  One book that you have read more than once: Automatic Millionaire, David Bach

3.  One book you would want on a desert island: History of the Jews, Paul Johnson

4.  One book that made you laugh: Handbook for Today's Metrosexual

5.  One book that made you cry:  O Jerusalem! by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre

6.  One book that you wish had been written: Guide to Seeing and Correcting the Subtle Infiltration of Materialism in the Christians Life

7.  One book that you wish had never been written:  Feminist Mistique or Origin of Species, Charles Darwin

8.  One book you’re currently reading:  Parallel Lives, Plutarch

9.  One book you’ve been meaning to read:  The Silver Chalice by Thomas B. Costain

10. Now tag five people:  Ladylove (Joy), Jeremy K, Michael, Marlow, Steve R

Of course, anyone may take up the gauntlet, but these five have been specifically challenged and tasked to take it up.  Refuse it at your own peril. BTW be warned - this task is tough...

Alas, the end of summer class (es)

well, a month or more have past and I am returning to blog. Some of you have tried to make me feel guilty for my silence (some have even been reduced to name calling - but I will not mention any names here {K}). However, I don't feel bad about me lack of blogging because I have just succesfully finished four more of these infernal grad classes. This leaves me with a two week break before I start my last three classes this fall. So here I am to blog...

So what has been happening? Well...

My sister Rachel (in concert with her husband, Ron) provided my family with the first grandchild. Precious little Ruby Evelyn was born a month ago and is certainly the most gorgeous baby I think I have ever seen. Word on the street is that she takes after her uncle like that...

Joy and I took a long weekend to Disney with the express purpose of conquering the water parks and new rides in the other parks. With few exceptions, we suceeded. I enjoyed being there again (the last time I was accompanied by none other than the famed Drew Johnson). Hopefully the next time we go we will have kiddies to share with.

Last week, I took my youth group and a couple essential adults on a canoeing trip. We has a blast and nobody drown - although we did battle spiders and errant swimsuit tops. I can't explain how much my youth group means to me. I only wish that I did not work full time as this severly limits what I am able to do with them.

*highlight of end of summer* Last week, Joy, K, Haley, and I drove the hour and a half to Destin to hang out with Michael and Mandy. In truth - it had been quite a while since I had laughed that hard and had such a grand time. they are a special couple that had great influence over my freshman year of college. Everytime I hear Michael say, "Don't make me come over thear!" - memories of the five o'clock dinner family come rushing back. To my brothers and sisters -Chris, Jill, Jeremy, and parents - Michael and Mandy, and even our pediphile uncle, Adam - and the many others that shared meals at our table - I MISS YOU ALL.

Well, time is getting away and I still have to do that post in response to Chris' challenge. Iwould love to hear from you and perhaps it will not be so long till my next post. perhaps

Summer time

Here I am to blog, my primary motivation being that it allows me to procrastinate doing my homework.

It is Memorial day, a day that leaves me quite frustrated with Americans in general. It seems as though nobody has any serious notion of the significance of this day. All we think about is having the day off or if you live in Pcola the flood of homosexuals to the beach. Perhaps the holiday should be renamed to something that has no connection to the sacrifices, both past and present of our military men and women. Then I would not feel so perplexed.

School is off and running, I am having difficulties finding placement for my 100 hours principalship. This is because I am not currently in the local school system as my classmates are. But this I will overcome...

Some of you may know that Pastor Schettler has resigned from the campus church and is moving on with his life. This has left me remembering all of the spiritual mile markers that I came to under his ministry. I did not always agree with everything he said or did, but I can say without reservation that I appreciate him more than I do the college.

May all of you have a good holiday and remembrance

ok, I give...

To the utter frustration of some of you, I have been saving myself. Because of this stand, I have been heckled and humiliated. Many times I have been called names and told that since "everybody is doing it", I should too. Well here I am. No longer able to resist not knowing what I have been missing, I have compromised and joined the crowd in its downstream path.

On a more serious note... the reason for my silence is due to my narrowly surviving this past semester of grad school. I will be starting my summer classes next week and have already made the usual vows to abhor procrastination.  With any luck and Divine assistance, I will be done this Christmas.

BTW -  I am all for Marlo's plans for a gathering. Greenville would probably be the best place, although K and I do live in pcola and I am certain all of you know the way...

All that aside, I look forward to hearing from all of you and will try to fulfill my responsibilities as a faithful member of this community.
